Banana McGee, hanging high on the branch,
Wanted so badly to learn how to dance.

He dreamed of the day, when as ripe as can be,
He'd fall to the ground and be finally free!

He wished he would land on a soft bit of grass
And crouch as he'd watch all the fruit-pickers pass.

He'd wait til the coast was so perfectly clear
He'd shout out Yahoo! and no one would hear.

What McGee would do next no Banana has done.
He'd wiggle and shake! He'd be fizzled and flung!

He'd make up a jig and he'd call it "The Bee"
For that was the name of his best friend, you see.

He dreamed that he'd set out in search for a suit.
A suit with some matching suspenders and boot.

"The Bee" would be danced in the countries, the towns,
And even be danced by those people in crowns!

But when all his dreams would excite him the most
Banana McGee... would remember his post.

He'd see all his neighbours up high on the branch
And try to let go of his longing to dance.

He hung from his branch with the saddest of frowns
And out from his mouth came the saddest of sounds.

But when all the pickers came, starting their round,
A big gusty wind flew him right to the ground!

He crouched oh-so-still on that soft bit of grass
And waited for all of the pickers to pass.

Then free from the tree, that Banana Mcgee,
He shouted Yahoo! and invented "The Bee" .
